school starting soon..my final year in university..ask me if i have enjoyed my uni life, i would say yes..but i will wonder if i really enjoyed chem engineering..i think its a good discipline that will give you a good career, but i think i am not cut out for it..fyp started not that good for me, because i cant understand the guy's accent..totally..i think i need to go guanyin miao more often to pray..i hope this will end soon..like end of this year..15th dec..cant wait for it..

woo~ soo long didnt blog here..a quick one! been working in IFF for 3months already..works get routine and bascially it gets a little dull sometimes, especially when i clear my things fast for the day..but then again, i still learn from the company in one way or another..things like how they operate, why they do certain procedures and how finished products are produced from raw materials..though its not related to my engineering course, but its still a learning experience for me!

went to genting again, for 3rd time in 3 years..cold nice weather, but didnt really do much..the coach we took was those super big kind, double decker..quite comfy to sleep in..slept alot on the bus!! and the first night, i slept a lot too!! woke up at 12pm the next day..that's partly why i didnt do much because by the time we went into the outdoor theme park it was already 3pm..long queue and slight drizzle make it alittle not worthly of the rm44 ticket..we went into the snowcity, and it was damn cold! -9 degree..haha but first time experiencing fake snow.. anyway the pictures are not in sequence..

drove pass orchard road..it was nice, i mean maybe because it was my first time driving along orchard road during the christmas season..the lights are pretty awesome..i like that feeling..

went to ice cream cheft along east road..quite disappointing because the choices were really few..not as many as what i had seen on the website..but the ice cream that i ate was ok i feel..but well, not too bad though, enjoyed that night (:

woo..quite a while since i last posted..hmm, its not because i am busy, but think i am lazy to post anything..

but well, schools left with only 4 more weeks before final exams..time really flies in university..those who isnt in uni yet and is reading this blog (though i think there will be none), trust me, i am in year 3 already..my year one days are like just few days ago only..

not trying to be emo here..but i think i am not good enough..in quite a lot of areas..hmmm..shall not elaborate here, keeping it a secret within myself (: but i think its a little bit of karma too..i really believe in karma..when will this end i am not sure..and i cant change what i want to change in me..i may not be as good a person as you see physically in front of you, and i wanted to change that..haha..its hard to change though, and there are some things which i dont have the courage to do it again anymore..maybe it will stay like this forever..i dont know..i always believe in saying wat u want to say, dont hesitate what you want to say in ur heart..do whatever you want when you can so that you wont have regrets..but...

anyway jus came back from indonesia on a 4day 3nights trip for my bro's wedding..its kinda cool cos its my first time taking a plane..haha not as scary as i initially thought..and i think indonesia ppl are generally nice towards singaporeans(or foreigners in general)..its a nice place to go to, minus the poor security and the difficulty in communication, and things there are cheap..food especially, jco donuts costing less than SGD1? 2 wings 1 breast 3 coffees 2 waffles 2 soft drink from KFC for ard sgd10?? u cant find those prices in singapore..and A&W, which is extinct in singapore since 20years ago..its my first time tasting the A&W float and the curly fries..dint try their meal though..but i dint buy any souveniors back, cos i dunno wat to buyy..i din see anything special..so in the end dint buy any..

project can has officially ended, but theres still some loose end to tie...eh, i think project can was fun, the oc especially..haha, and one thing that i dint experience last year was the frequency i had to drive the van this year..i drove quite a lot, like really..record 13.5 hrs of driving frm 10am to 1130pm on manual..hmmm, actually theres a lot i want to blog, but i forgot..haha shud have blog them down after each phase but i was too lazy..

school starting, quite sick of it..dont know how to improve..maybe my method of studying is wrong, but i cant think of any other methods..i think i will hope for miracle again..hahaha..eh i think this 3 mth holidays i did quite something..proj can took up most of my time..then i went tioman, which was a cool trip, the fishes oh my!! and also dint regret joining e7, though i could have enjoyed more..hahaha..actually now i am thinking of the next holiday le..arghh..quick school starts and end sooon!

alrites..went tioman for a short holiday trip..and it was awesome!! it was further from the mainland then i expected, a good 2 hour plus ferry ride from tanjung gemok..and tioman is big, much bigger than i thought too..well basically tioman island has many different shores and beach villages, each having their own resort..and apart from the villages, theres only jungles and forests..nothing else..we stayed in the village Lalang, at Berjaya Tioman Resort, which is not a bad accommodation, i think one of the best amongst the resorts there..the first day there wasnt much we can do, since it was about 4 plus after we checked in and everything..went to walk the beach and take some random shots before heading for dinner..we tried to go for an adventure, hoping to see fireflies but there wasnt..the next day, we headed off to coral island on a rented speed boat at 500Rm, and snorkel for the rest of the day..i think the underwater scene is one of the nicest scenary i ever seen in my life so far..the coral reefs and the fishes (i dont know their breed) were awesome..we lure them towards our hands with bread and woah, michelle's underwater camera does the job of capturing that moment..wooh~and by the time we get back on shore, it was near 4 5pm..totally sunburnt and tired..but it was a really nice trip..i miss that place actually, when i get back to singapore..haha..i like this kind of holiday trips!!

then straight after the tioman was ethelonter seven..i didnt regret joining actually..my only concern was that i cant blend in with the councillors because i joined late..but they are nice and funny people..the girls are crazily crazy..they did a good job at doing cheer and coming out with many silly cheers and invented a new game..i have to agree with one of them, that the councillors actually enjoyed ourselves more than the freshies..haha..but the freshies are also very good!! quite proud of them because they bonded quite fast..they didnt need our help for their talent time item, and even composed a song for the councillors..i hope they can remain close after e7, and i think they will (: the only sad thing was that i didnt do much during the camp..dont know why, but i just feel that i didnt enjoy much..i thought i could have enjoyed more at the camp..but yea hope they can start planning outings..haha (side note: i am actually quite proud of my charis freshies too (: (: )

beneficiary visit 19th june 2010

we did our beneficiary visit last saturday, mostly in toa payoh area..it ended earlier then i thought it would be, and it wasnt as tiring as i would have expected..most of the beneficiaries are elderlies in their 70s onwards, staying alone or with another partner in a small flat..i finally got a chance to visit those blocks which have a narrow corridoor and no windows but only doors..this is the scene that i saw in some channel 8 dramas..and some of the beneficiaries are actually quite happy when they saw us, talking to us for minutes and even offered us drinks..though i cant converse smoothly in hokkien and cant make sense of what they were saying, but i can tell that they were really keen to have someone to talk to, especially when they see younger people, eager to share their stories to..

hmm later will be collect recce, have to sleep soon..but i wanna watch spain..haha hope i wont be late

drove a van last saturday for paint-a-home..haha, quite fun to drive a manual vehicle since last year..good thing was i didnt stall..yay..good refresher course for my coming project c.a.n. ..

joined e7 as councillor..its kind of last minute..didnt have the intention to join, but since i am free this holiday, and think they are lacking councillor, so i thought just join..but i think the last week of june will be quite taxing for me, cause i might be overseas right before day zero and after camp breaks on friday, i have a recce on the sunday..think my parents will not be happy with that planning because i will be away from home for more then seven days..but i think its once a while, haha and further more, its the holiday..if i dont do it now, then when can i right?

and i kinda miss drums..dont know if geyao asking ppl to play for welcome tea or not..haha..arghh..

alrites..finally got to sing k since quite a long time ago..i think the last time i sang was nearly a year ago..that was quite long ago..haha, i really think my vocal range is abit limited..cant sing most of the songs..only low low low songs..

ok so project c.a.n. is going to get hectic soon..all the recces and planning..actually its kinda fun planning routes..but theres quite a lot of details to note man..like what buses go where..and like i said before, this time round the area is quite concentrated, in toa payoh area..hopefully man..haha..and i am afraid of driving lorries..dont have enough practices driving manual vehicles, espeically when the lorries are fully loaded..i can still remember the scary experience last year when the lorry almost lost its balance while making its exit from the expressway..hope this time round everything will be smooth going..

and no agencies got back to me yet..going to be jobless this time round..arghh..i needa work..the vip didnt reply me either..arghh..

just some thought..

i was looking at some facebook news feeds when i saw my sec school band got a distinction for the syf competition recently..this sort of sparked some notalgic memories of my band days during my secondary school and jc days..i wasnt a great trumpet player, since i only joined band in secondary three..and tjc band was kind enough to have accpeted me and i have my wonderful section who helped me..i really enjoyed those performing days, where we would get all excited but tired from the band practices that ended late..its a tradition that we would get gifts for our sections or other people and take loads of photos before and after the concert..i can still remember vividly during the preparation for the syf competition in tjc..like i said, i wasnt a great player and i was really the weakest link, often out of tune and failing to pitch the high notes..i think none of my section mates knew, but i did wanted to give up because of the level of stress..i made a lot of mistakes..haha..but fortunately, i did not..even though i still made some mistakes during the competition itself..

well the thing is i enjoyed the process and the things i learnt during my band days..i think the same should be applied to what we are doing..results doesnt matter, its the enjoyment during the process that counts (: so for now, i should find some enjoyment in cn2116 and other modules (:

and yea..trumpet, the one thing that i always wanted to own..nkmh, if you are reading this, do u still intend to buy one? haha

alrites, 2 more weeks to exam..but my projects are no done yet..still one more to go, but its kinda small, 2 page project..honestly this sem i have done the most projects, and they are irritating..i cant wait for holiday to come, but then theres a downside to holidays..hmm

havent mention about project can yet..i am quite relieved that project can this year is not going to be that taxing compared to last year..i think the pd will be reading this some point in time, but honestly speaking, i did not regret joining project can vii..i know more of my tjc juniors and those guys are really funny..they can crap..and for log cell, it is really really really less strenuous..i mean i hope my foresight works out to be accurate..haha..i look at the map of toa payoh..its quite concentrated..not like last year which is quite spread out..and the best is we do not have to transport the collected stuffs back to school..(:

time flies..really..i was outside my primary school this morning to wait for bus 22..and the whole school has undergone a major revamp since like 10 years ago?? from the outside, i can see that they have added a new wing that extends from the canteen, and the soccer field is now much much nicer den last time..i remembered that we used to share soccer field with east view primary school, and we were not allowed to cross to the other half..haha..10 years, so much has happened and i wonder how my pri sch friends and secondary(pasir ris crest sec sch friends esp) are doing..all i can see is from facebook updates which make me seems like a stalker..but thats all i can find out..well during my pri sch days, pagers/handphones and internet are not common, so we only exchanged like home numbers and wrote on each others diaries, but it just stopped there..haha i dont really have the courage to call their home numbers =p..but well, just hope they are doing good with thier lifes..

and tmr 2nd semesters begins, and i am real scare for this sem..like i have got 4 projects to do?and assignments and tutorials that will be graded? oh man..the only motivation is cny, which sort of marks middle of the sem..well i know that by may, i will be enjoying holidays again..haha..but anyways, its bye bye holidays, hello school work!

i watched singapore idol last night, and it was woah..i am not a fan of any idol show, meaning i dont catch every single singapore idol show, but the grand finale was good..it was very touching, not the songs but the effort and performances put in by the contestants..sylvia's mercy was touching, very nice and you can really see the effort, the overall result of the idol competition that has groomed a singer..but i like sezairi overall..haha..all these make me wanna be a star..

wah..holiday is ending soon..oh my..happy days pass so fast..went back to kluang frm 12 to 14 dec, followed by genting from 16 to 18 dec..i enjoyed this genting trip very much..we played a lot and laughed a lot..though it rained when we were at the theme park, but we took most of the rides that we wanted, especially the vertical drop..i remembered that time when i went genting with almido, the ride was closed for maintainence..so din have the chance to take..and this time round, its the holidays and all the rides have long queue, unlike the other time i went, cos well, its january when i went..and yea, genting is getting hotter..i got sunburnt while queueing for the rides..pretty unbelieveable..and i still want more holidays..

i am back here to revive my blog..woo..so long never update..its has been a busy busy semester for me, and as a result, time seem to pass much quicker..some interesting things took place during the sem, but because my memory is failing, i cant remember them all..but maybe the most hype event i have been to was the F1 race..haha only went for the practice session..and of cos all the birthday celebrations..

finally we managed to have a section outing on saturday, even though sandy wasnt around..its great to have a meet up..the last time when we had a full outing was in dec 2007..hahha..thats like super long time ago..like 2 years..and time really flies..oh my gosh..but thing is i will always reminisce those days when we had band practice..i remember we would go for section lunch at around 1pm at the hawker center opposite tj, and i will order the cheap wanton noodle, not forgetting the 'hei bai', which is grass jelly mixed with soya milk..then sometimes we would go for dinner after band practice ends at around 630pm, usually to the long john silver at bedok central..i also miss the days when we had to go back sch on sat for practices, and the times when we practiced for syf and concerts, and the lame jokes or statements we made during practice..oh mann..i really miss band days..

fly kite fly kite!!..haha went kite flying with almido at marina barrage..this time marina barrage is much more crowded compared to the other time when i went there with charis..probably because its sunday and families and friends make use of the weekend to spend time there..i was hoping that my kite would go quite high up, but russ insisted that the kites which michelle brought were at their highest already at one point..but we never manage to keep it up there for longer than 5 minutes..i think its the structure of the kites..the blue sky is decorated with many kites of different colors and sizes..theres this doraemon kite and one uber big octopus kites and one with super long tail that looks like its doing dragon dancing in the sky..haha..abit sad that holiday is coming to an end soon..three months is really a long break but time flies..but i think its quality time spent during the holiday that matters most..the things i did and the days spent with my friends..when schools start i doubt we will have time for outings already..so making full use of the remaining one week or so..

went to catch ndp preview fireworks with charis on 1st aug..city hall mrt was already packed with sea of red people when i reached that at around 4 plus..i dunno why, but during ndp, when i see military personnels patrolling the stations in their uniforms, i feel a sense patriotism in me..i told my friends that i like to watch march past parade and they laughed at me..hahah..but really, i like march past and the formations and stuff..fireworks are ok..din manage to take many photos cos my camera was quite slow in the 'fireworks' mode..but before that, we viewed the contingents marching pass along nicoll highway and i saw the saf military band..i love military bands..watching/hearing them play will make me nostalgic, wanting to go back for band practices and performing with my section mates..haha..

and well, project c.a.n. vi has finally come to an end following the last distribute on 30th july..overall, i enjoyed project c.a.n. though it is very tiring, not only for log cell, but i guess its for the entire oc..the late nite spent shifting the rices and boxes to our storage areas, or shifting plastic bags to and from jc's 10th floor home in woodlands..the tiring stage for log cell starts from pub drive, and the subsequent staturdays were collect and challenge..its heartwarming to see such a good response from the residents and the public, and its even more statisfying during distribute..though i never really interact much with the beneficiaries, but at lesat i know that all the hard effort has reached those who need them..i am not really a vocal person, but thats how i felt..on a side note, its the first time i drove van/lorry in my life..haha..and i dunno i have to thank who, but i managed to survive a life-threatening encounter with junming on the lorry..he was driving the lorry and we were exiting the expressway at woodlands ave 2, when the lorry started weaving left and right uncontrollably, and tilting left and right at the same time when it was on a bend..there as a car behind us but lucky it slowed down, else yea..haha..and junming was damn steady at that time la..he managed to stablised the lorry..he said that the wheels were lifted off the ground..tts damn scary can..

pub drive is tiring yet fun..i think it is an experience to gain..i mean no one will ever run 1000 blocks to distribute flyers in their life unless they are doing it as a job..and this pub drive will be one of those that i will remember in my life, something that is worth reminiscing..anyway..i think my life will be shortened like 1 year because i drank like almost 2 bottles of 1.5L 100plus..i think my suger/salt content in my body shot up like trillion times..and my legs are really really suan and aching..haha..i have difficulties even walking from my room to the kitchen..

back from ethelonter VI..its a bit late to post but then i couldnt find time to write till now..anyway e6 is over, and i felt that i could have done a lot more during the camp..i talked to some of my freshies, and they said that they felt a gap between the councillors and the freshies..thats their only minus point for the camp, else everything is fun for them..but i am glad to have find a few of them to talk yesterday, and i think my freshies are really cool and funny bananas..it makes me understand more of what they felt about the whole thing..it kinda touched me that they are quite bonded together after the camp, since the purpose why i choose to be a kc is to try bond a new group of people together(i didnt really do much to bond them actually)..but anyway, the councillors feel that theres still time to bridge the 'gap' between us and the freshies, and its never too late to make up for what is not done during the camp!!

so after e6 is project c.a.n. collect which falls on the 18th july..i am going to get more busy soon..and theres geyao welcome tea preparation..arghhh.i am playing 突然好想你..arghhh..a rock song..and i cant play rock..

wooo..it has been a long time since i blogged..my holidays have been busy so far, with the trials and outings..but to summarize, i think so far it has been quite fun and entertaining for me, but tiring at times..

to begin with, e6 trials are tiring i would say, but the positive thing is that i have made more friends through the trials and outings..(: when out with my e6 group to this safra central to play wii games..it was quite cheap given the promotion for the holidays, $11 per room per hour..

as for almido, as long as my memory can remember, we went to ubin to trek, celebrated sy birthday with dim sum in the morning, followed by kbox and then dinner at vivo, had a super impromptu dinner, a badminton session and the most recent ones, wendys birthday celebration, where we went joo chiat for a late breakfast, followed by toy museum at some little india place, then to turtle musuem, with dinner buffet at pan pacific and last stop at khatib dam..

my holidays are almost half gone with all the outings and events, but nonetheless, i enjoyed myself much..

one thing i have in mind, which i am quite proud of is the closeness of almido..i am not going to say mushy things, but fact is that i am proud of the effort each of us put in when it comes to birthdays and organising outings..personally for myself, i wont do stuffs for my friends..but when it comes to events like birthdays in almido, i am able to see the effort put in by people like russ or ht or joel in the organising of events..thats something i am quite proud of..haha..its amazing how this group grows together..

i am glad to have known shaun..after talking to him, i admit that he is inspiring..and if joel is reading this entry now, i have to agree with you, he is supa talented..not only because he is perfect pitch and can play lots of intsrument, but the fact that he learn most of the instrument by self-teaching is damn inspiring already..keyboard, guitar, bass and drums..and yea..he was a band member too..he played clarinet..haha..

for the fbh..haha..nice experience..beside some quite minor mistake in the opening, i think i was pretty stable..quite a few said i improved a lot..which i am happy for..but then i still think it is the same..haha..not too sure how much i actually had improved..but anyway theres still one more performance tmr..will try to have a perfect performance tmr..

ok..i know this is abit late..but i am back frm msia with the almidos!!! it was fun, esp at the theme park..well maybe cause i took all the thrilling rides ever in my entire 21years of living..its wasnt scary at all..but also maybe its the companion that makes it enjoyable..spent 2 nights there and then went down to kl..kl was more of shopping and walking around..but the hotel we stayed was quite classy..yea..we shud have more overseas trip next time..

ok so school started, my tutorials balloted, i am totally alone for labs and 3 tutorials, so thats going to be my sem 2 school live..maybe i am introvert, i cant make new friends, but maybe people will come make friends with me..hahaa..but whatever the case is, i m still lonely..cant get into the same groupings as my friends..well to be honest, my heart and soul is still in msia, so i couldnt get started to studying..maybe i give myself till after cny..haha..its a super duper long break..

yea..lim chee guan is nice..went to queue for it this afternoon and the queue is super long..the guy infront of me cleared half the tray of freshly bbqed bak gua..so scary..bought so much..hahaa..but the cny mood isnt really getting into me..i feel that as you grow older, you tend not to get so excited about festive seasons..be it cny or christmas..when i was younger, i would always get excited over wearing new clothes, buying new shoes, shopping for cny goodies, going to the wet market to buy vegetables and meats to store for the cny period..but now no more..i cant explain this..maybe cause i am getting older??

christmas eve was spent with almido people at cathay..we had aston specialties for dinner which was fabulous..its a good thing we made a reservation cause the queue was snakingly long..after dinner we went to the highest floor of taka and sat there to eat donut..i think we just like to find some corner and sit down and talk..thats what we like to do..haha..actually we wanted to walk along orchard road and wait for the countdown, but orchard road was damn packed and crowded..i dun really like squeezing with the people, and so we ended up at geylang and greeted each other merry x'mas there..had supper there and went for durian feast after that..it was damn nice the durians..haha..stinks my fingers though..

the last time i went to national stadium was when singapore played against uzbekistan sometime in may..this time round it was singapore vs vietman in the 2nd leg semifinals for the asean cup..i thought singapore might have the upper hand cause its at home ground singapore..but sadly, they couldnt convert most of the chances into goals and all vietnam took was one counter-attack that sent singapore out of the tournament..but being there at the national stadium was a different experience from watching it at home..the crowd was fantastic..kallang roars, kallang waves, the spectators cheering on the singapore team whenever they are close to scoring, the sea of red people(by red i mean singaporeans, not vietnamese) filling up the stadium (well the statistic reported was 55000 people)..but then, on the other hand, i saw the ugly side of singaporeans..mainly the younger generations..well to me its a disgrace when they booed and refused to stand when the vietnam national anthem was being played..its something i think you have to pay respect to, be it in competition or what, just show some sportsmanship..

so it has been a week since i went to kluang..still havent blog about it..but as usual, i did the same thing there again..haha, climb the moutain, take pictures, eat nice food..but this time round it happens that lin yu zhong had a mini concert at the kluang parade..so we manage to catch a glimsp of the malaysian star...and and my cousin brought me to yong siang's place..the thing is we couldnt contact each other because he isnt online most of the time, so we couldnt meet up..

and yup, working for canon for about a week or so..office didnt really change a lot..people are friendly as usual..haha..

but anyway, i was walking around in tampines mall one day and wandered into the yamaha shop and saw this trumpet silent mute and i so wanna get it so that i can practice trumpet at home without creating much nuisance to my neighbours..but of cause i have to get a trumpet first..so nina if you are reading this post somewhere in korea, please come back quick..haha..and it is pricey..but i long wanted a trumpet..it doesnt have to be good..so long as it sounds nice and is playable..haha..

and yea..i will be going kluang from tomorrow and be back on sunday..short trip down to malaysia..but then i think the main holiday will be the genting/kl trip in jan..cant wait for it..but it will means school reopening soon when the time comes...=(

thursday was the day that i first played the drums in a pop band for a competition, or rather a performance under this group call geyao..i had much fun playing the drums for the first time, and as what i said to my team members, i treated it as a experience kind of thing..what amazed me was that i wasnt pretty much as nervous on the stage as i thought would be though i was on the first item..maybe because i cant hear myself on stage and thats why i felt nothing..hahha..but then let my introduce the RED team band members:

special thanks to isaac for giving me tips and teaching me the basics of drums..yeeting for coordinating the songs and the liasing with yuching/jiahui the timing to open the room for practice..kaiming for his style of playing his bass(very hilarious, very rock, haha), jamie for pro-ness in her skill and telling me how to plug the song 'more than words' and ck and jiaming, for tolerating my mistakes during practicing..haha..and those who played together with me, i think all except jiaming and isaac (we did not have two keyboardist playing togehter for the 轨迹 and 心动, and definitely you cant have two drummers per song right?), its nice playing together with you guys!!

though it has only been a short three weeks but all of us put in effort and we enjoyed ourselves..at least i think..pity that we never/forgot to take pictures..must wait for the official photograhper to release the pictures..nonetheless, hope i can have chances to perform with you people again!!

school has started for 2 weeks..lectures are going are light speed and i need to wake up at 5am in the morning for two days per week..signed up for ifg frisbee and tutorials are piling up..printer inks are draining up fast and travelling around campus in shuttle bus is a must..though sometimes i think walking will be faster..been to all canteens in the campus and are quite familiar with the different blocks..decided not to join nusws this sem but is looking at some other groups..so that sum up my first two weeks in nus..206 more weeks to go!!

tjc alumni concert was held last saturday at vch and it was very successful!! thanks to those who came to the concert, namely the almido family..thanks for the flowers!! i already missed band after the concert and i dont know when is the next time i will be playing for the alumni or tjband..its always great to go back tjband to play, the feeling is very different, but nonetheless, i enjoyed myself during the concert though i played a few wrong notes in the first half..the second half was more lively and i liked it more than the first half..here some pictures for the alumni:

i went for my eng oweek last week..my og is also quite siao-on which make us won the best og for the oweek!!i had war games on monday, flag day on tue, sentosa on wed(i didnt attend this), external hunt on thur and finally rag on friday..we cheered and cheered and cheered, ran the entire orchard road, "showered" in the public, slept 3 hours in mcdonalds and had odyssey night walk on the last night..we bonded well with each other and i am relieved that i know my classmate through this oweek!!

celebrated national day with almido this year..we met at orchard to have pizza hut for lunch and a few rounds of pool before watching dark knight..i like batman's motorbike, though mich and russ disagree openly..we made our way to the crowded marina square open area facing esplanade to view fireworks..it isnt a perfect view with some tree branches blocking the fireworks, but its the best spot we can find..and ysl, who is always busy with work, joined us for the second time only out of our many many outings..we found a cool spot in marina square to have our carl's junior dinner and htht-ed again..i think htht, giving surprise and performing is almido favourite recreation activities..=)

but sad to say, school starting on monday, and i dont know when we will be having such outings again..my 2.5 years of rested brain has to start doing tutorials and switching to the studying mode, something which i am not really comfortable right now..to add to my misery, my modules for my first sem is kinda screwed up..i missed the protected period for bidding my ss modules, and thus i am taking 1 gem and 2 breadth besides the two other preallocated modules..why do i think its screwed up? because the recommended mods for me are 2 preallocated mods, eg1413, 1 gem and 1 ss..and now, i seriously think that my gem is kinda tough and odd..its called Remote Sensing for Earth Observation..this the description of the module:

Images of the earth are not only beautiful to look at but also useful for learning about the earth and its state of health. In this module, students will be exposed to different types of images of the earth and their applications, especially in Southeast Asia.Major topics to be covered include types of remote sensing systems, image processing and information extraction, and applications such as global monitoring, biophysical observations, environmental management and natural hazard monitoring. This module is for students who enjoy viewing images of the earth and want to understand such images and their uses in earth science and environmental applications

it seems pretty interesting isnt it?but the more i look at it, the more funny i think this gem will be for me..its the kind of not-for-chemeng-student-module feeling..and because i am not given eg1413 module, which is compulsory for eng students, i have to bid one more mod to make up my modular credits this sem, thus i take a physics mod as a breadth..for those who understand the nus system, this would means that i cant use any more breadth to take jap/korean language mods already..sadded man..i dont know if the mods i take will be of any good for my course or not, but i dont have much choices as well, so i will just live with it for my first sem..

the almido day camp started on the 15th july, tuesday when we met up for movie at vivo city..we watched Hancock, which is a pretty nice movie..the following day some seniors joined us for the movie 21, which is about counting cards and beating the dealers in las vegas..the 3rd day almido freshies went to michelle house for a secret mission, which include some ddr-ing, singing and playing with ysl joing us for a last minute steamboat dinner(this is not potluck)..the 4th day we headed to sentosa for a day of beach activities including ultimate frisbee, volleyballing, potlucking, bday celebrating for bernard's darling, dunking people in the sea water, gorilla tarzan jane, water captain's ball, burying soonwen in the sand, and a small scale sand castle building, which me and russel was a little sad..for the potluck, huiting brought fish/sotong balls and hotdogs, tian ju brought her apple salad, wendy her variety of sandwiches, shuang ying her chips, michelle her jelly and watermelons, russel and me the drinks and joel his apple tarts and the cha sao shu..all the foodies are delicious..yummy!!we then went to just noddles for dinner with the rest of the seniors who joined us later..on the 5th day, all of us waked up in the wee hours of the morning(except for wendy i guess) and headed down to choa chu kang, yes choa chu kang for project c.a.n. a charity drive in which we raided 15 flates, asking residents for their kind donations of can products or any dry food for donations to our beneficiaries..well its quite heart-warming to see some residents who were actually waiting for our collections and prepared a plastic bag of canned foodies..of cause, some where quite irritated and unfriendly..but nevetheless it was a great time spent with the almido for a good cause..its a pity that i dont have all the photographs of the all the above events, cause tian ju is the camera girl for all the events..haha..this five days are sure tiring for all of us, waking up early only to return late to our homes..and every time we dismissed we only have less then 12 hours before we are to meet again..our parents nagged and pockets burnt, but i think this is like once a life time thingy right? so for the last two weeks of breaks before school officially starts for us, we must enjoy ourselves!! i love almido!!

and almido really really is very on..serious, i mean last time when i had my orientation back in tj, the people couldnt care much about having gatherings after the orientation..and just take a look at how often almido met up this week alone, i was quite shock myself..we had dinner on monday after supporting joel, went to ikea and had dinner at this hawker centre followed by mind's cafe on thursday and went to sing from 11am to 6pm on friday(supposedly a practice session for our songs..)and i am still looking forward to more of the outings with almido before school starts =D..more more more!!!

back from nuscsc camp on sunday..well by right the camp was supposed to end on saturday morning, but my og is soooo super on that we decided to stay for one more night at costa sand chalet though most of us were like dead tired..but anyway, the camp turned out to be much much better then what i had expected..before reporting to the camp on tue, i was wondering why did i even bother to sign up for any camps at all, cause i am those who are not really good at making new friends and mixing around..but it turned out to be completely different..i have no difficulties in mixing around and i enjoyed every single moment spent with them during the camp..loves almido very much!!..

i have to say that i really enjoyed this camp very much..all the water games and fruit games and fright night and mysterious journeys..well it woulnt be enjoyable if not for my very super active and hyper high group members..i am very glad that we had actually bonded well over the five days of the camps and we even met up straight on monday to show joel our support(though i spoilt the entire sense of surprise for joel)..heres to more more almido outings and gatherings!!

it's funny how people change over a period of time..some may become closer with you over the years, but there are those who were once your best buddies and yet they slowly distant themselves away from you..sometimes i wonder if it is really worth the time and effort in trying to call for gatherings or meet ups to narrow the gap in the friendship, when all you get back is some excuses..when i think about it, i will be proud to say that i only know a small group of friends whom i hang out with, joke with or share feelings with, rather then saying i have a large group of friends whom i am not even able to stay in touch..but what can i do, it's human nature to be close to someone only when they need them, right?

i have not had a great laugh since god knows when, but yesterday i just simply teared from laughter by playing the card games (you have to do the hand signature shown on the cards..its damn funn la) with my classmates at mind's cafe prinsep..damn..it feels so good after laughing..haha..

gunung lambak

the trip to kluang this time was to attend my cousin's wedding dinner (i usually go there in dec)..but because i have been longing to go up gunung lambak for years, i planned the trip with my cousins before i departed for kluang to make sure that the schedule wont be too rushing..the train ride to johor was horrible though..i wouldnt want to describe it..but i was really really please to get out of the train the moment it stopped at kluang station..

anyway, gunung lambak is 5km away from the town of kluang, about 1o min drive from my grandpa house, and it is huge..i mean, comparing to singapore's bukit timah or mount faber, it is really huge..it has a small pool for kids to dip in, a fitness corner and a hanging bridge which shakes violently if you run/jump on it..its a pity that i only took a few shots of the scenery because my battery was running low and i forgot to bring extra batteries =(..but here are some pictures:

it was a fun and sweaty trekking experience for me..and the company was great =D..it was a real pity that my battery was running low..that was the reason why i only took group photos when we were resting at the middle of the mountain..

the rest of the day was spent attending the wedding dinner at layang-layang..it took us about 30-40 mins to drive from kluang..its wasnt really a dinner, because the thing started at 3pm..but it was a ten course meal..quite nice and filling..

my cousins are really nice in terms of treating me like a guest from overseas..they brought me to watch narnia back at their local cinema..their cinema is good for a town like kluang..just that they should dim the lights at the steps..i think singaporeans really enjoy when it comes to entertainment in malaysia..the ticket cost RM9.00 ( i suppose), that is S$4.00, so cheap!!but of cause, i didnt have to pay for it..and not only this, i get to enjoy the nice foodies for supper after the movie..yum yum..i think i was really a spoilt brat there..haha..but anyway, many thanks to my cousins and uncle(who treated us the supper) who made my trip enjoyable..i miss the place already..=(

i believed that i have heard from somewhere someone did mentioned before that singapore is a gracious society..being a singaporean myself, it is definitely heartening to hear or know as we are working towards a gracious society..but what irks me is the fact that the scene i see every morning/evening is a total opposite of the first sentence i made..it is after all not a very glamorous singapore..i can simply give four examples to support my emotional setbacks i experienced..

firstly, certainly there is a purpose of drawing those yellow arrows and the filter-funnel outlines on the platform behind the yellow lines..i wonder how many people actually still remember their presence and the reason behind it..but let me try reminding those who have actually forgotten the purpose of those yellow drawings-they are for passengers boarding the train to give way for alighting passengers..i experienced it a lot of times where people just barge into the train once the doors open..i have to squeeze my way out of the train when the norm is for passengers to squeeze into it..its is super irritating, more so when people bump into you shoulder to shoulder without an apology..and you have to hear the 'tsk tsk' coming from them..

next, i believe the 'keep left' practice on the escalator had been in place here in singapore at least 4 years ago..even if one claims that he dont know anything about it, some level of observation on the people around him will naturally make him realise that keeping left is more normal den hogging the right side of the escalator..so its either they are just plain ignorant or they are totally oblivious of their surroundings..

have you ever experienced such a moment when you frantically grab the nearest pole to stabilse yourself just to find out that someone is leaning his body on it? and when you look at him, he is holding on to the handles as well? so selfish and inconsiderate isnt it?

having tvmobile on buses is a good idea, but we dont need 'radiomobile' in trains and buses..it is a very common sight to see youngsters blasting loud music from their very powerful mobile phones, and usually those musics are not really musics to the ears..it is very annoying and hell lot of a nuisance..i remembered once i was in this cabin and there was this two teens blasting their music so loud that the people 2 cabins away were able to hear..its unbearable..trust me..

so tell me what benefit singapore will gain in terms of reputation by hosting f1 racing, youth olympics and having the tallest ferris wheel in the region?can you imagine tourists visiting singapore and having to suffer those terrible moments when they take our so called high-class public transport?you know, the image of singapore being a gracious city will just be ruined under our own hands if all these continues..

shit!!!i miss it!!!! 29 feb is gone and i din post anything here!!! arghhhhh..u know it was quite dumb of me to think that if i did not actually post an entry on my blog on the 29th of feb to mark the special once in a four years day, theres always 30th of feb to post...arghhhhhh..what was i thinking!!

but anyway, i bought a cheapskate guitar and has been practising on it for a week..my fingers on my left hand are painful u know..almost got a 'string-cut' on my ring finger..and i had work ot consecutively for 4 days from the start of the week..totally burnt out, wore out and exhausted..but here is weekend to help me rejuvenate..yay!!

things i realised when doing OT

1. time passes very fast, so fast that you would have thought it was only a few minutes ago when your friends left you behind for the day
2. no matter how sleepy you felt during the day or in the afternoon, you will be extremely awake when you are doing OT
3. you realised that you can actually skip dinner while doing OT, and by the time you reach home, you will be getting into your bed, skipping any solid meals totally
4. you will be glad that you are in a cab on your way home, despite the recent rise in taxis fare
5. you realised that half the pay you earned through OT will go to the taxi driver's pocket, and you may never see it again if you remembered that you have forgotten to ask for a receipt while waiting for your lift at the lobby
